Diaries vs. Blogs

Welcome to our Literature Blog!

We will be using this blog for Literature lessons this term as we are reading about Anne Frank's Diary.

I'm guessing many of you don't keep pen and paper diaries anymore, but you BLOG instead!

For our first activity, click on COMMENTS and write your response to either Option A or B below:

Option A - for people who keep diaries or blogs:
Do you prefer writing in a pen-and-paper diary, or do you prefer to blog? Why? What are some of the differences between diaries and blogs?

Option B - for people who do not keep diaries or blogs:
If you don't like both diaries and blogs, why is that so?
Why do you think people write diaries and blogs in the first place?

Please include your REAL NAME at the end of the comment, so we know who is commenting! Feel free to respond to your friends' comments POLITELY, and do write in clear and proper English!

Have fun!

  3. OptionA. I prefer blog as I can post whatever I want like pictures and others, etc. Sometimes, we can also block people from seeing our blogs which can allow us to write some "private" things.

  5. Blogs are more convient as everything is pen down, while we got to pen down everything if we're using diaries. Blogs are able to private and are able to open to public. It's easier this way :)

  9. i prefer blogging because it's very simple.it helps to save time too.it is one way to express our feelings and letting people know how we feel through an easy way.no doubt, keeping a blog is not very personal.but it's certainly very convenient.

  13. I prefer blogging because i find it very troublesome to write. i prefer bloging because people can comment on my post.but, remember we must always becareful with what were posting on the net.one thing good about a diary is we can write anything we want. but somehow i just prefer blogging.readers reading my blog can listen to songs. and they can enjoy reading my blog.

Keeping diaries or blogs are a troublesome thing for me. At the same time, i'm not those type whom always keep myself occupied by playing the computer. I think, people write diaries or blogs because they'd like to pen down their thoughts. ( IZZATI(: )

Option B. I don't like to keep blogs as i'm not interested in blogging. & i'm lazy to keep updating the blog. Others keep a blog maybe because they want to share with their friends about things that they've done and to express their feelings about certain things. [Xiangyi.]

Writing thoughts on pen and paper . Though sometimes you get lazy to write , but writing in a dairy means no restriction while in a blog you have restrictions on what to write .

  30. Erms , blog are easier to use (: Don't have to waste ink or paper :D Laughs . And we can even private our blog if we like , it's better for ourselves if we dislike people reading our personal life (: But whereas diaries , it's keep a memory . More feelings :D But for me , i still prefer blogging . Cos' it's more easy ! It's just so similar to diaries (: No big diff to me , as i'm using both :x Hha . I like to say out better than keeping inside , it will be more comfortable for myself . Others might want to comment about it , negative or positive , youu can choose to not listen , but if they are too much , i won't like it . And probably find them out if they didn't put their names . (:

  31. hi its me munire and i prefer diary more than a blog. it is because it can be confidential and no one can hack. the diary has also more patience unlike blogs where people post negative comments. that is why i prefer diary more

  34. I prefer blog as I feel that typing on the keyboard is fun, although I am lazy to post any now. I feel that there is another alternative and that is, if there is a need to share my feelings, I would rather share it to the people I trust or, more specifically, my family members or, the people who makes me feel that way. That way, I will feel more 'light' as I am aware that people also know how I feel. Of course, that requires lots of courage too. :)

People write diaries and blogs to express their feelings.

I would prefer the old-fasioned pen-and-paper diary because its much more private, and for blogs, it is open for the world and people tend to only post about things that appeal to others? In my opinion, i think if you were to write in a diary, its for you to pour out your feelings and secrets, and no one else has the right to comment about you. Blogs on the other hand, have people that just like to post bad comments about you, and that really destroys the whole meaning for blogging? Thats just my point of view yep.

Also, MJ's dead. I realised this: People only tend to remember important people AFTER they are dead. Its sad. Rest-in-peace MJ!

  46. Option A,
I prefer to write in a diary than to post in a blog, as I can write in my own special manner without any restrictions, and draw my own pictures at my own free will. >.<

  47. option A as i think using blog is a good way to express our feelings, share picures, jokes or anything we want to share with people. It is a good way to have stronger bonds with our peers.I rather not have diaries has it is not very convinient as u have to pen down your thoughts and it is quite troublesome...but i agree that it is not safe to use blogs because your thoughts are visible to everyone but i think i would not advise people to share their private thoughts on the blog ...sharing fun stuffs is ok.

  48. 52. I prefer blogging as it is faster and I can play games or watch drama series...but,I also keep a diary, however,I don't update it regularly...blogging encourages teens to start talking about their lifes...still,there would still be people commenting about it and these comments are very discouraging. So there are advantages and disadvantages.

  53. :) Thanks! To those who have made the effort to write longer comments. Keep up the good work. Glad to see you all know what to put on a blog and what to put in a diary, because one is much more public than the other! :)
